Beyond x Mercedes B2B App Integration

The Mercedes me app is a market leading experience that allows users to tailor their in-car experience and purchase extras or packages to upgrade their vehicle - we were tasked with enabling this experience for business users, who manage a fleet of company cars.

We were required to utilise as much of the existing B2C app experience as we could, due to technical limitations, whilst enabling a set of business specific requirements to meet the needs of fleet admin users.

Our proccess

1 / Gathering business requirements

We interviewed a range of Mercedes stakeholders to understand the business requirements of this brief and established a set of experience principles to steer our work.

2 / Understanding technical limitations

It was essential to understand the technical limitations of the existing Mercedes me app experience, as the business was in the process of upgrading their technical capability. We had to design a concept that could be easily achieved within their current constraints.

3 / Persona creation

We worked with Mercedes stakeholders, using existing research, to define a set of business personas to understand the needs, opportunities and potential pain points faced by this new audience.

4 / Ideation workshops

We used our created personas to guide a number of ideation workshops with Mercedes stakeholders. Different business areas had specific needs, so it was important to assess the value and customer impact of such ideas to gather a prioritised list of requirements.

5 / Conceptual wire-framing

Equipped with the knowledge and ideas of the prior steps, a process of conceptual wire-framing allowed us to test ideas and begin refining the new B2B experience.

6 / Experience prototype

The final deliverable of this brief was a set of conceptual prototypes created using Figma, to illustrate a range of new features that are to be integrated into the Mercedes me app to enable business accounts.

We worked with Mercedes stakeholders to pitch these concepts to the wider business, gaining the necessary approval to begin a stage of user testing and refinement.
